Week 9 - Currency, eggsperiments, eels in trouble.

We have been studying the long-finned eel in topic and during writing time.  In this picture we are watching a news report about them on you tube. We have learned that they are now as endangered as the kiwi due to over fishing, habitat loss and pollution.  They have been swimming in N.Z rivers for over 60 million years and swim all the way to Tonga to have babies!

I like 'walk the plank' ....you have to try and guess the words and spell them right...if you don't get them right you get eaten by a shark!" - Sharli

I like the letter writing one, you have to click a word and then the little mouse writes it and then at the end he shows you the letter that you told him to write' - Ella
We use websites like starfall and studyladder as part of our
reading programme.

A speaker came in to talk to us about currency and the importance of saving for the future.
"We got to see the lady from the bank acting like different people from the past, I liked holding the 5 dollars" - Kayla

We had an experiment to do for homework.
We had to put an egg in vinegar for 3 days and see what happened.
"The acid made the eggshell go away.  The egg felt all soft and like jelly.  The yolk was still in it" - Ben
